PROCEDURE – NASAL FRACTURE REPAIR:
If nasal reconstruction surgery is required there are often multiple techniques required to reposition the nasal bones and make the other necessary corrections. Many of the same techniques used for Rhinoplasty Surgery are used for this procedure. A nasal cast is usually required and must be worn for about 7 days post-surgery to keep the nose stabilized and protect it from further injury. Swelling, bruising and discomfort is normal and to be expected with nasal reconstruction surgery. Keeping your head elevated on 2-3 pillows helps to significantly reduce this swelling. Any pain and discomfort is usually managed with prescription pain medication. The discomfort resolves over a few days, but your activities will be restricted for about 3 weeks while healing takes place – this includes all strenuous sports, lifting, bending, and straining.
